Itinerary
Days: 1-2 HANOI
Fly to Hanoi, Vietnam’s gracious capital. Easy and rest on the first day for recovering from jet lag. Wind your way through the spellbinding streets of the Old Quarter, visit the ancient Temple of Literature, Ho Chi Minh mausoleum, his house-on-stilts and infamous Hanoi Hilton, then delight in an evening water puppet performance.
Days: 3-4 NINH BINH
Visit Van Long Nature Reserve by small bamboo boat. This karst formation area and considered as a non-wave bay and home of variety of wild life, especially “Delacour’s langur”. Soft trek in Cuc Phuong National Park, a dense virgin rain forest. Witness the helpful program of a rescued centre for endangered primate. Cycling around Tam Coc area amongst the beautiful limestone mountains, visit temples, villages.
Days: 5-8 HUE & HOI AN
Uncover the royal life of Vietnamese last dynasty – Nguyen in the purple city of Hue with fascinating palaces’ architectures. Cruise a dragon boat on Perfume River to visit the simple of Hue – Thien Mu pagoda, Kings’ tombs. Visit the city’s famous Cham Museum before reaching Hoi An. Abundant in history, wander the traditional houses and temples and the iconic Japanese Bridge of this charming town. Ramble around the old town, Explore the local markets with some of the staff from the Streets Foundation café then sample some of the dishes. Enjoy some free time in Hoi An for shopping or discover the regions delectable cuisine with a fun cooking class.
Days: 9-12 KONTUM
A spectacular landscape on the drive from Hoi An to Kontum. Take a soft adventure on motorbikes and trek for exploring a hilly region of central highland with amazing life of the montagnard people. Experience a home stay in house-on-stilts. Take a morning flight on day 12th back to Hanoi for the night train up to Lao Cai.
Day: 13 BAC HA &SURROUNDINGS
Drive the mountain roads to join the colorful Flower H’mong and other ethic minorities in local markets (take place on: Tue, Wed, Thu, Sat, Sun), motorboat cruise downstream on Chay River. Overnight at a tour lodge.
Days: 14-15 HOANG SU PHI
Beautiful drive from Bac Ha to Hoang Su Phi with stops on the way for photo opportunities of traditional stilt houses and rice terraces. Spend most of a day for mountain hike around Hoang Su Phi, admire the amazing life of highlanders (Tay, black Yao, Red Yao people) and their cultivation at the hillsides. Two peaceful nights at small retreat of eco lodge- Pan Hou.
Days: 16-17 BA BE LAKE
Take a long drive to the Northeast for Ba Be national park. Cruise the lake with a visit to a cave and a water fall. Easy walk along a river which feeds into the lake with evergreen scenery and peaceful villages and farms.
Day: 18 HANOI
Morning drive to Hanoi, free afternoon explore the rest of the city yourselves or just relax.
Days: 19-20 HALONG BAY
A scenic drive past farmers working the rice paddies brings you to World Heritage listed Halong Bay where you board an exciting boat cruise and float past hundreds of soaring limestone mountains. A night on-board is a highlight for people of all ages. A great time of relaxation while you are moving gently on the green calm water and marvelous karst formations at the end of your Vietnam experience.
Day: 21 DEPARTURE
Free at leisure or do the last shopping until your flight home.
